What the...??

Woke up this morning to about an inch of snow. Bother. Checked the road (actually the driveway) and decided no need to swap tires on Ina's car. Just wet. At 5:30am it was 35.5°. At 7:30 it was 32.5°. Got all the way up to 39.7° this afternoon. The 55° of the other day was a heat wave in comparison.

Ina's school did run on a two hour delay though. A little extra sleep never hurts.
Especially when you're a working person. Unlike me.

Ina called on the way in to tell me how pretty it was with the snow in the trees and all. So I grabbed my wallet and headed into town and took a few pixs.

It's a good thing that we don't have a lot of traffic cuz I was driving and taking pictures at the same time. Oops...the cop in Jack probably raised an eyebrow.

This is my fav. It looks like I am flying low. Crest of a hill and telephoto. I went to Starbucks to get a coffee and who did I see there? Ina getting her coffee. She still had half an hour before classes. That was fun.

Blatherings

I wish someone would get rid of the curtains. On my PC's they get in the way of the words. Is that too demanding? Or is it too picky? Or does it matter?

Maybe 19 was the weight and not the length. A 19# fish might need to bake at 375 for 60min. But then I am not a cook. So... I do BBQ though on occassion. 60min does seem excessive doesn't it. Could aways "Google" it.

I mentioned to some friends with whom I go to Spring Training in March that I had a Blog. "Huh?" was one of the most common remarks. Itried to explain that it was my SIL's fault but they coud not understand anyway. "What do you have to say that anyone would be interested in?", was another fine comment. I told them it was for me and if anyone else wanted to read it, fine.

The lawn dried out enough to mow yesterday. I aways laugh when they mention putting away the mower for the winter. I usualy have to mow once in December and January and often twice or more in February. This winter I think I last mowed in December about the first week. But not in January at all. A record for not mowing. Soon it will be every five days or so. Warm sun and some rain aways gets the grasses growing ike crazy.

I had to pull out several Lavender plants. They got too big for the space they were in and crowded out other plants and took over other spaces. Yes I could have kept them in check by pruning more often but I got attached to the blooms and turned a blind eye to the bad boy on the block. Now I need to find something to replace them that does not spread quite as much.

The mornings have been quite nice here. I take a photo almost every morning if it anywhere near worth doing. Today not. Yesterday......

Happy Hubby

The sun is shining and my wife is home again. She had a wonderful time helping out at Dannette's and just loves Zoe and Kai. I'm glad we were able to have her do it. I missed her though.

The sun was out today after a faltering start. I actually sat out on the deck (out of any wind) and enjoyed the feeling of warmth. Spring can't be too far away. We both sat in the living room soaking up the sun most of the day reading or messing about with the computer.

I tried a free trial of a program to share files and stuff between laptop and desktop but one is Vista and the other XP. The Vista is 32bit and the XP is 64 bit. Not compatible. I could ultimately share documents and photos but still not the printer. I erased the program as want I was really after was a way to have emails onthe laptop printed by the printer hooked to the desktop. Not sure this can be done until I upgrade the laptop to the 64bit architecture. Oh well.

Mellow Yellow

I think I have gone yellowblind. Finished painting the laundry room today. Boy that is YELLOW! We'll see what Ina thinks when she gets back Sunday.

Don't know what to paint the cabinets and doors. Maybe a tuscan brick? That will have to wait until I finish installing the trim though.

Our friends Vince and Tracy took pity on me tonight and had me over for dinner. They called just about the time I was looking through the cupboards and refrig to see what we had on hand. There are lots of choices and that was the problem...what to cook or not cook. So going to their house for dinner was a no brainer. Pasta. And a small bowl of ice cream along with a bottle of wine and lots of good conversation. Real friends.

Weather

According some people I know this has been a crazy winter. I suppose in some areas this is true. Ours is up to its normal tricks. Sunny and wonderful for half the day and then gloomy and pouring down hail. I don't think I have ever seen this much actual hail at one time.

There was a movie with Bonnie Hunt and Merisa Tomae (however you spell it) and Robert Downey Jr. and I cannot recall the name of the movie but the husband of Bonnie Hunt's character said, "Italy? My wife's in Italy?" Actually it was more like "Itly? My wife's in Itly?"
Well, my wife is in California. Not for the same reason Bonnie Hunt was in Itly though. So I guess the parallel does not exist but I've always liked that line and wanted to work it in sometime. Now that I have, wish I hadn't. Erase all the above? Nah.

My brother sent me an email this morning that said, "Got Snow?" and I looked outside and the sun was shining and I thought, is he nuts? But then I heard on the radio about the snow in Seattle turning to slush. Not where I live. "Course now I've got hail. Lots and lots of hail. Must be cold in the upper atmosphere.

My poor cat is confused. Not only is her mistress missing, her food bowl was moved. I washed the laundry room down with TSP in preparation for painting and moved her bowl. Again.

Now it's actually snowing. Hey! Winter is over! The Daff's are up about three inches. I was actually comtemplating mowing the lawn today. I washed the car yesterday. I wanted more sun!!

Morning Light on Skagit Bay

I must have a thousand shots like this. Each time I wake up and see this I have this compulsion to take another photo. Photo? Or Snapshot. Whatever. This is not the best but those are not available for here yet. Why? "b'cuz", that's why.

More Winter?

Passamagassa Phil or whover he is saw his shadow if he was here in the NW. 6 more weeks of winter then. Well sure, Spring starts in about 6 weeks doesn't it?
Phil's no dummy.

Okay what is his name? Punxsutawney Phil. Officially according to his website. Groundhogs got websites?

The real issue today is of course the Republicans have said they base their whole strategy on blocking Obama. Screw the country! We've got to block anything that liberal pinko commie left wing radical wants to get done. As I've said before, what a bunch of Maroons!!

February?

Do you know how noisy it can get with three grown women in the house talking to another on a speaker phone? Heck at anytime actually. I did not know that grown (let's say mature) women squealed. They do.

I was privy to that this weekend. Two of my Sisters-in-Law (there are two more by the way) came up for a couple of nights to visit with my wife. We all had a good time so don't get me wrong I love them. All of them. But...squeal they do. I'll probably get in trouble for saying that but...the truth shall set you free.

I heard someone say that one twelth of 2009 has already gone by. Makes the year seem awful short when said that way. Time flies too fast anyway with out coming up with a way to shorten it.

Today is Super Bowl Sunday. Big whoop. We are probably one household in a very tiny minority that will not watch even a second of the game. I barely know the teams playing. I will know who won tomorrow morning when I open the paper. Soon enough.

February is a short month but sometimes seems long due to the series of grey drizzly days. It can also be a glorious month if we get enough sunshine but dont hold your breath. But, the Daffs are poking their heads up already and the crocus will bloom very soon. So, can spring be far away?

Tomorrow is Ground Hogs Day. Not that Puxetawny or Puxawaty or whatever Phil has any say over the weather here in the great NorthWest. Usually he is wrong as it concerns us. What do you call a sunny day after two days of rain here? Monday.
